LASD South LA/Lawndale deputies discover mini casino in mini market in Lawndale for a second time.

On August 8, 2013, the Torrance District Attorney's Office charged Kasin Moosani, 29 year old resident of Hawthorne, with possessing two gambling machines (slot machines) at his Lawndale mini market business.

On November 13, 2012, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputies from South Los Angeles Station/Lawndale Service Center learned that business owner Kasin Moosani was running a casino out of his Lawndale business. Deputies entered the mini market in the 4300 block of 147th Street, Lawndale and saw that Moosani was running a small casino inside the business. He had numerous "Las Vegas" type electronic slot machines that were fully operational. Deputies and detectives arrested Moosani for possession of the illegal slot machines. Moosani was placed on probation by the court.

Since Moosani had a business license to operate a legitimate mini market, on July 2, 2013, the City of Lawndale held a business license hearing. The purpose of the hearing was to determine if Moosani should keep his business license to run his mini market.

During the business license hearing, Moosani claimed that he now runs a legitimate mini market business. A request was made by the Sheriff's Department to conduct a surprise inspection of his business. Moosani agreed and deputies along with Lawndale Code Enforcement personnel conducted the inspection.

During the inspection, deputies discovered that Moosani had two additional electronic slot machines in a concealed area within his mini market. There were large display racks on wheels in front of the slot machines. When customers wanted to gamble, the racks would be moved allowing access to the gaming area. The slot machines were functional as if they had recently been used. Moosani had also installed security cameras and a large metal security door to his business. Since Moosani was again in violation of possessing slot machines, the case was presented to the Torrance District Attorney's Office, which they charged him with the illegal possession of two slot machines.

Moosani's next court date is October 2, 2013, at Torrance Court.

Moosani has subsequently relinquished his business license and closed his business in Lawndale permanently.
