It gives me great pleasure to announce the promotion of Lead Police Officer Greg Faessel to Police Sergeant effective August 16, 2013. Sergeant Faessel will be assigned as a Watch Commander within the Operations Division.

Sergeant Faessel joined the Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer on November 5, 2001, and he accepted the position of Police Officer on February 25, 2002.

During his tenure, Greg has been a member of the S.W.A.T. team, served as a motor officer, worked as a Lead Police Officer in Patrol and is currently assigned as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Greg is a dedicated member of the Department who has assisted with strategic planning and identifying cutting-edge technology, and participated with the Challenge Cup Relay, the Police Department’s Open House, and Tip-A-Cop. He was also instrumental in the coordination of the inaugural Cypress Job Fair.

Sergeant Faessel has been awarded his Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certificates. He has successfully attained an Associate of Arts degree from Fullerton City College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach as well as a Masters of Arts degree in Public Administration from Brandman University.
