The City of Rockford experienced three incidents of cars being broken into a with purses taken from the cars on Monday August 12, 2013. These break ins appear to be part of widespread gang activity across the State of Michigan where cars are targeted after seeing women enter parks or athletic facilities without their purses. The Rockford Department of Public Safety urges everyone to safely secure valuable items in the trunk of their cars especially if you are leaving a purse in the passenger compartment. Police also ask that you report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 866-9557.
