Our community is comprised of 5 different school systems: Oswego District 308, Aurora District 129, Aurora District 131, Kaneland District 302, and Yorkville District 115. What this means is our community has a large population of school age children and young adults. The school year is beginning as Yorkville District 115 started 8/14, Oswego District 308 started 8/19 and the Aurora and Kaneland districts begin on 8/21.
It is imperative we all SLOW down and be aware of our surroundings. School zone speed limits are there for a reason and talking on your cell phone or texting is ILLEGAL while in a school zone (EVEN IF YOU ARE IN THE "DROP OFF" LINE!).
Lastly, please remember each school district has drop off and pick up rules. There are crossing guards at some schools for a REASON. THEY ARE OUT THERE TO HELP. Exercise some patience and extreme caution when driving through the school areas and let's make this year a safe and enjoyable one!
