LASD LAFD Community Emergency Response Training in Lawndale. 7 courses, 20 hours, beginning September 16, 2013.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department is proud to present this training to the public.
Following a major disaster, police, fire, and medical personnel may not be able to fully meet the demand. People will have to rely on each other to meet immediate life-saving and life-sustaining needs.

Developed through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the L.A. County Fire Department's Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) program provides basic training in safety and life-saving skills for the public.

The course curriculum covers the following modules:
1. September 16, 2013: Disaster Preparedness
2. September 23, 2013: Disaster Fire Suppression
3. September 30, 2013: Disaster Medical Operations I
4. October 7, 2013: Disaster Medical Operations 2
5. October 10, 2013: Light Search & Rescue
6. October 17, 2013: Disaster Psychology, Organization & Terrorism
7. October 24, 2013: Disaster Simulation and Exercise

The training course will be a series of seven classes. The training will be held at:
Lawndale Community Center Annex

6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Class size is limited. Sign up today to reserve your seat. CERT Class information is also posted on the Fire Department website: http://fire.lacounty.gov, students must complete all 20 hours of the course to receive a Certificate of Completion. If you must miss any units, you can make them up anywhere CERT is taught to receive your certificate.
