SERIOUS PEDESTRIAN CRASH
ODENTON - PINEY ORCHARD

Motor Vehicle: 2008 Toyota Prius
Driver: Mitchell Brent Haven, 64, of Odenton, Md
Injuries: None
Pedestrian: Ellen Sanna Foster, 69, of Odenton, Md
Injuries: Critical, but stable condition
On August 21, 2013, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers from the Western District responded to the area of Strawberry Lake Way and Black Gum Way in Gambrills for a reported crash involving a pedestrian being struck.
Upon arrival, officers located an elderly female that had been struck by a vehicle. Paramedics arrived and began to render aid to her. It was determined that her injuries were possibly life threatening. The victim was subsequently flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Officers from the Traffic Safety Section responded and began an investigation. Based upon the preliminary investigation, it was determined that the female pedestrian was crossing the roadway outside of the designated crosswalk areas and was struck by the vehicle, which remained at the scene.
The cause of the crash appears to be pedestrian error.
Neither alcohol nor speed appears to be factors in the crash.
Please remember to use crosswalks, and wear high visibility clothing, especially when walking at night.
