School Safety Zone - We wanted to take a moment to remind our community that school is in. Lake Lure Classical Academy, located at 2520 Memorial Hwy has now just around 325 students enrolled in its classes. These students are bused in from areas surrounding Lake Lure, like Bills Creek, Green Hill, Rutherfordton, Columbus and Hendersonville. Parents are also driving their students as well as this year there are 16 new student drivers currently enrolled in Driver’s Ed. All this makes for a lot of traffic at the beginning of school and the end of school.
The Lake Lure Police Department has dedicated an officer to help direct traffic on and off of Memorial Drive in the mornings when school begins at 8 am and when school lets out at 3pm. Please remember in the mornings, when you’re driving and sipping on your coffee, trying to mentally plan your day, as well as in the evenings when you’re eager to get home, you are driving through a school zone. Please don’t forget to slow down, pay attention to traffic entering and exiting the highway and be alert to our officers directing traffic.
The School Zone is marked with a speed of 25mph and is enforced. Please help us have another safe year for our students at Lake Lure Classical Academy.
