Personal Injury motorcycle accident
At approximately 3:10 pm on August 24th, 2013 Officer Anderson and Officer Hudson were dispatched to the area of M-50 and Brooklyn Rd for a personal injury accident. Officers responded and learned that a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by an 82 year old Onsted resident had been traveling southbound on M-50 North of Brooklyn Rd. The Chevrolet Trailblazer had slowed to turn into a business. A southbound motorcycle driven by 31 year old Tipton resident was traveling behind the Trailblazer and had failed to stop, striking the Trailblazer in the rear end. The driver of the motorcycle did sustain serious injuries and was treated by Columbia Township Rescue. As a result of the injuries the motorcycle driver was flown by Survival Flight to the University Of Michigan Hospital. As of this press release the motorcycle driver remained at the University Of Michigan Hospital and was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the Chevrolet Trailblazer was transported to Bixby Hospital by Lenawee Community Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
An accident reconstructionist from the Michigan State Police was called in to assist with the investigation. Also assisting at the scene was the Napoleon Township Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
The accident does remain under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this accident. The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a full face helmet.
