Montclair Police Department via Nixle Community Information Service
Starting September 9, 2013, City of Montclair residents can start to receive important and official information from the Montclair Police Department via the Nixle Community Information Service. Messages will be delivered by email, SMS/text message, and over the World Wide Web.
Notifications from the Montclair Police Department may include:
- A young child or adult with a disease walks away from their home. The alert can include a picture of the missing with a map identifying the area at which they were last seen.
- A public safety emergency that would require people to stay in or remain away from their homes. A Nixle alert can let residents with a registered address in the affected neighborhood know what is happening, allowing residents to take a proactive role in their own safety.
- A serious injury or fatal crash in which traffic investigators close down intersections for several hours during heavy commute hours. This situation might warrant a notification to subscribers who live or work in the area, encouraging them to select a different route.
- Request for public assistance in solving crimes and/or identifying involved parties.
- Press releases.
- Other uses could be large-scale public work projects, traffic safety implication around large fire scenes, community events such as parades, etc.
- Details about City Council meeting information, utility outage advisories, etc.
Information can be received online and via email. Residents receive messages by phone as part of their text messaging plan (otherwise standard text message rates apply). The system is simple to use and provides an easy sign-up process. Register now and learn more at www.nixle.com.
Nixle’s Community Information Service is built exclusively to provide secure and reliable communications. Its authenticated service connects city agencies to citizens in real-time, delivering information to residents of geographical areas and neighborhoods.
