The Anne Arundel County Police Department Western District has received several calls from concerned citizens about signs that have been posted in the Chapelgate Community advertising a "Chapelgate Community Meeting" scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Western District Police Station located at 8273 Telegraph Road, Odenton, MD 21113. The signs further advertises to call the police station at 410-222-6155 for further information.
The police department did not post these signs and is unaware of a Chapelgate Community Meeting taking place at the Western District Police Station at the date and time advertised.
There is however the regularly scheduled monthly Police Community Relations Council Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Western District Police Station.
The Anne Arundel County Police Community Relations Council is a voluntary, independent advisory body whose membership includes business and community representatives as well as private citizens.
The Police Community Relations Council serves as a liaison between the police and the community and is a means by which the citizens have a personal contact with the Police Department.
The council meets regularly with police officials to discuss:
•Problems of mutual concern
•Develop programs to reduce crime, improve personal and property security
•Improve the police-community partnership necessary to reduce crime and its effects
