Montclair Skate Park
Recently a child lost control of his bicycle while riding at the Skate Park, located at 5201 Benito Street. The child had to be airlifted to a local hospital, where it was determined the child sustained a concussion from the accident. This accident could have been avoided if the child was obeying the rule that bicycles are strictly prohibited inside the Skate Park.
The Montclair Police Department is committed to the safety of all who visit the Skate Park. To help aid in this campaign, we ask that you have a strong understanding of the safety rules that are posted and visible to all who visit the Skate Park. You can also view the rules of the Skate Park in the City of Montclair’s Municipal Code at www.cityofmontclair.org.
Some of the more common violations are:
- Each person using the skateboard/skating area must wear a shirt and proper safety equipment including a helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads. All such safety equipment must be functional and protective, properly sized, and designed for skating or skateboarding
purposes. Skateboarders must wear soft-sided shoes.
- No person shall ride or use any wheeled device other than roller skates, in-line skates, or skateboards within any skateboard/skating area. Use of any other wheeled devices including, but not limited to, bicycles, scooters, unicycles, go-carts or wagons are prohibited.
