Help us find the thugs, A Elderly women robbed in Detroit home: A $1,000 reward is being offered for tips on who robbed two women, ages 89 and 83, on Detroit's westside
Join the Detroit 300 to help identify the men who pistol-whipped an 89-year-old woman, leaving her with swollen eyes and bruised legs, during a brazen attack and robbery earlier this week.
The woman’s 83-year-old neighbor was also robbed early Monday morning at their two-flat home on Pingree.
The three suspects stole jewelry, credit cards and even ice cream.
Detroit police released physical descriptions of suspects Tuesday night. Each man was described as being 5 feet, 10 inches tall.
The first man, who was armed, has a dark complexion, weighs 130 pounds and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. He is 18 to 20 years old, police said.
The second suspect is also 18 to 20 years old. He weighs 140 pounds, has a medium complexion and wore a dark-colored sweater with a hood, police said.
The third man is between 18 and 22 years old. He has a medium complexion and wore a blue hooded sweater. He weighs 150 pounds.
The men pushed an air-conditioner out of a window to enter the home just after 3 a.m., according to family members and the Detroit Police Department. Police said in a news release that one man stood outside and two went inside.
Imogene Ankton, 89, started to fight them off. But she was beaten, tied up and gagged, and her home ransacked. Then, her neighbor was robbed.
“I’m just glad they left me alive,” Ankton told the Free Press Monday.
When police officers arrived at the scene seven minutes after being dispatched, they saw the men leaving the home. They chased them, but the men escaped.
Police said officers were able to retrieve some of the women’s personal items.
