Deputy-Involved Shooting (Sat.), Compton Av & Gage Av, Florence/Firestone (Co.) #LASD 
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting that occurred Saturday, September 14, 2013, at approximately 10:11 PM, in the 1400 block of Gage Avenue, in the Florence/Firestone community of unincorporated South Los Angeles.
Detectives have learned that Century Station deputies went in pursuit of a possible reckless driver under the influence of drugs or alcohol. At a point during the pursuit, the passenger of the suspect vehicle jumped from the car and ran. Other deputies responding to assist confronted the subject on foot and this is when the deputy-involved shooting occurred.
A loaded handgun was recovered at this scene.
Meanwhile, other deputies continued to pursue the driver of the fleeing vehicle. Eventually, the driver yielded and was taken into custody after a brief struggle with deputies.
Charges are pending against both suspects.
No deputies were injured by gunfire.

NARRATIVE:
Sheriff's Homicide detectives are en route to the intersection of Compton Avenue/Gage Avenue, Los Angeles, to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved (hit) shooting.
One suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
No deputies were injured. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
