CITIZEN ROBBERY
MARYLAND CITY - LAUREL
On September 15, 2013, at approximately 6:37 p.m., officers from the Western District responded to the 3300 block of Crumpton South in Laurel for a report of a citizen robbery.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 17 year-old male victim, who reported that he was walking in the 3300 block of Crumpton South to meet up with two teenagers he knew from the area to sell them a cell phone. During the encounter, one suspect took the victim’s cell phone and a second suspect assaulted him.
Both suspects fled the area toward the Tall Oaks Apartment Complex.
A canvass of the area was completed by other responding units and Aviation with negative results. Some early investigative leads were followed up on and one suspect was identified and located. The investigation is continuing in an effort to identify the other suspect. The victim suffered a minor injury, but refused treatment. The suspect had a switch blade in his possession at the time of arrest and he was charged accordingly.
Suspect #1: 17-year-old male charged with robbery, theft, assault, and deadly weapon on a juvenile citation and later released to the custody of his parents
Suspect #2: Black male in his teens, wearing a black tank top and shorts
WE BELIEVE THIS INCIDENT IS NOT DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE PATTERN OF ROBBERIES THAT OCCURRED IN THE SAME AREA LAST MONTH; AND THAT THIS WAS NOT A RANDOM ACT.
