Arrest for Burglary and Vandalism by the SRJC PD (JC 13-417)
On Monday, September 16, 2013 at approximately 5:12 a.m., the Santa Rosa Junior College District Police Department (SRJC PD) received a call from a custodian at the SRJC Culinary Café at 1670 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa. The custodian reported a suspicious male was inside the Culinary Café which was closed at the time. While the SRJC PD officer was en route, the suspicious male fled the scene. The SRJC PD officer investigated the scene and discovered damage to the entry doors along with a large bag containing several SRJC desktop computers and monitors which were forcefully removed from a room. The security camera system was reviewed and an image of the suspect was obtained.
At 10:30 a.m. that day, a SRJC PD officer monitored a radio call of a suspicious person in Steele Lane Park in Santa Rosa that matched the description of the suspect. The SRJC PD officer responded to Steele Lane Park and contacted Jonathan Martin Sales, a 29 year old Santa Rosa Resident. The SRJC PD officer was able to positively identify Sales as the suspect by the video footage and witness statement.
Sales was arrested for burglary and misdemeanor vandalism. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail and his bail was set at $18,500.
