Franklin, TN – Twelve drug dealers are behind bars and 27 cases closed, after a Franklin Police sweep dubbed “Operation Wakeup” this morning. Charges against these suspects range from delivery of marijuana to selling crack cocaine near Franklin schools and parks. “Operation Wakeup was named not only because of the early morning hours that it took place, rousting drug dealers from their beds,” said Vice and Narcotics Unit Sergeant Don Zelaya, “but because we want to put all drug dealers on notice that they need to wake up and realize that their activity is neither welcome, nor wanted in Franklin neighborhoods.” Several of this morning’s suspects have now been banned from Public Housing by Franklin Housing Authority officials.
