Police Seek Public Assistance in Locating a Hit and Run Suspect who Struck a Crossing Guard.
A uniformed school crossing guard was struck by a hit-and-run driver as she walked in a crosswalk at Fremont Avenue and Orchard Street on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at about 7:45 a.m. The crossing guard was wearing a safety vest and holding a stop sign when she was hit. She had just finished escorting people across the street.
The victim, a 60 year old resident of Montclair, suffered severe injuries as the driver of the dark grey Honda four-door car sped away.
Later that evening, Detectives from the Montclair Police Department located the hit and run vehicle in a parking lot on Holt Boulevard west of Central Avenue. The vehicle was registered to a residence in the10300 block of Fremont Avenue in Montclair. The owner of the vehicle was identified as Israel Carrion. As a result of a comprehensive investigation, an arrest warrant was issued on Israel Carrion for Felony Hit and Run with Injury.
Detectives have been unable to locate Israel Carrion and are seeking the public’s assistance.
Carrion is described as a Hispanic male, 32 years old, 5'-10", 185 lbs., with black hair, and brown eyes. Photographs of Carrion are included with this message.
