Department of Corrections staff and law enforcement are searching for two state prison inmates who left their community service work site in Rapid City earlier today.
Inmates Lucas Odle and Joseph Larson left their work assignment without authorization just before 1 p.m.
Odle, age 21, is a white male. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 165 pounds. Odle is serving a 5 year sentence with 2 years and 6 months suspended for possession of a controlled substance out of Meade County.
Larson, age 33, is a white male. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 300 pounds. Larson is
serving two concurrent 7 year sentences for grand theft out of Butte County, a concurrent 5 year sentence for grand theft out of Pennington County and a consecutive
5 year sentence for grand theft out of Pennington County.
Anyone who sees either Odle or Larson or knows of their whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
The community service program allows minimum-security inmates to work in the community, providing labor to state, federal and local government agencies and non-profit organizations. More than 500 inmates are assigned to community service projects across the state on any given day.
