Detectives from Lakewood Sheriff’s Station have arrested a suspect for assaulting a gas station clerk in Lakewood on September 7, 2013.

Suspect Kendrick Ruth, a 35-year-old resident of Long Beach, was arrested Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at a motel near Long Beach Boulevard and Artesia Boulevard in Long Beach. Ruth was identified after detectives followed up on several leads, and was arrested when leaving the motel.

On September 7, 2013, Ruth allegedly assaulted a 23-year-old woman who works as a clerk at the gas station located in the 4900 block of Lakewood Boulevard over a dispute regarding the price of a cigar. The victim suffered severe injuries as a result of the attack.

Ruth was booked for robbery and assault at the Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail. His bail has been set at $100,000.00. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday October 4, 2013 at Los Cerritos Superior Court in Bellflower.

There will be media availability with the Unit Commander and handling detectives at Lakewood Sheriff’s Station 5130 North Clark Avenue, Lakewood at 1:30 pm, Thursday, October 3, 2013.
