North East Side Residents,

The Gurnee Police Department has received four burglary reports in or near your area over the 3 weeks. Vehicles and homes/garages have been targeted.

1. 10/04/13: Residential burglary in the 3500 block of Glen Flora Ave.
2. 10/05/13: Burglary to motor vehicle in the 3800 block of Grandview
3. 10/05/13: Burglary to motor vehicle in the 1200 block of Waveland
4. 10/23/13: Burglary to a garage and motor vehicle in the 900 block of Magnolia

The Glen Flora incident occurred during the mid-morning hours. The rest of the cases occurred during the overnight hours. Evidence suggests that the method of entry in each case was through open or unlocked doors or windows. Small, easily-concealed items were taken such as cash, jewelry, etc. There is no suspect description and each remains an ongoing investigation.

We'd like to remind residents that the best preventive measure one can take against these types of crimes is ensuring that vehicles and homes are locked. This is especially important during the overnight hours and when a home is not occupied.
