Hit and Run Driver sought

Los Angeles- On Monday, October 28, 2013, at approximately 5:50 a.m., a fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred near the intersection of Soto Street and Lancaster Avenue Hollenbeck Area.

The victim, identified as Kenneth Hamilton, 54 years old, of Fountain Valley, was killed when a vehicle changed lanes from the southbound #1 lane to the southbound #2 of Soto Street lane which was occupied by Hamilton. The contact caused Hamilton to collide with the curb and then was launched from his motorcycle. Just prior to the collision Hamilton was on his way home from Eastlake Juvenile Hall where he was employed as a Probation Officer for the County of Los Angeles. Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Los Angeles Fire Department.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without identifying himself or rendering aid to Hamilton, a violation of 20001(A) VC, Hit and Run. The vehicle is described as a 1996-2000 Honda Civic, DX, four door, gray in color and has damage to the right passenger side and is missing the right side view mirror.
