Franklin, TN – A felony suspect who fled, twice, today from Franklin Police Officers is now behind bars. On the morning of October 31, the suspect arrived at a Cool Springs area motel to meet the Craigslist seller of a smartphone. During that meeting, the suspect grabbed the phone from the victim, who was then drug a short distance through the parking lot by the getaway car. The victim suffered minor injuries.
Detectives arranged an undercover buy-back of the stolen phone that the suspect had, himself, posted for sale. That buy-back took place earlier today in Cool Springs. The suspect fled, but after a brief foot pursuit, detectives captured and arrested 26-year-old James Marcqueza of Madison.
Following his arrest, Marcqueza was transported to the Williamson Medical Center after complaining of difficulty breathing. While at the hospital, Marcqueza slipped out of his handcuffs and fled from the hospital’s emergency room. Officers quickly established a perimeter and took Marcqueza back into custody, 20 minutes later, as he emerged from the wood line on Edward Curd Lane near Liberty Pike.
Originally wanted for Felony Theft and Aggravated Assault, Marcqueza is now facing additional charges of Drug Possession, Resisting Arrest, and Escape. He is being held on a $30,500 bond, and due in court 11/21/2013 at 1:00 pm.
