Safety Tips:

“Don’t be a Victim”

Please remember to LOCK IT, HIDE IT, KEEP IT.

Keep all car doors locked and windows closed while in or out of your car. Set your alarm or use an anti-theft device.
If you must shop at night, park in a well-lighted area.
Avoid parking next to vans, trucks with camper shells, or cars with tinted windows.
Park as close as you can to your destination and take notice of where your parked.
Never leave your car unoccupied with the motor running or with children inside.
Do not leave packages or valuables on the seat of your car. This creates a temptation for thieves. If you must leave something in the car, lock it in the trunk or put it out of sight. (LOCK IT, HIDE IT, KEEP IT)
Be sure to locate your keys prior to going to your car.
Keep a secure hold on your purse, handbag and parcels. Do not put them down or on top of the car in order to open the door.
When approaching or leaving your vehicle, be aware of your surroundings.
Do not approach your car alone if there are suspicious people in the area.
Ask mall or store security for an escort before leaving your shopping location.

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
WEST LOS ANGELES AREA

BURGLARY PREVENTION BASICS:

-Make your home look occupied and make difficult to break in.

-Lock all outside doors and windows before you leave the house or go to bed. Even if it’s a short time, lock your doors.

-Keep your garage door closed and locked.

-Don't allow daily deliveries of mail, newspapers or flyers to build up while you’re away. Arrange for your post office to hold your mail, or arrange for a friend or neighbor to take them in regularly.

-Change locks immediately if your keys are lost or stolen.

-Have adequate exterior lighting. A motion-sensitive light is recommended for backyards.

-Trim trees and shrubs

-Make sure your door hinges are on the inside.

_Activate your alarm system if have one.

_Doggie doors should have a locking mechanism.

_The most important thing you can do is CALL the POLICE to report a crime or suspicious activity.
