Dallas Police Department Partners with Community to Reduce Crime
The Dallas Police Department’s Office of Community Affairs will begin implementation of the 10/70/20 Crime Reduction Program targeting a residential area in the Central Division. The philosophy of 10/70/20 is that 10% of the people in the community are Non-Tolerant regarding crime and are involved in the prevention of crime, 70% are Tolerant and not involved, and 20% are the Criminal Element who commit the crimes. The goal of this program is to mobilize the 70% to an attitude of Non-Tolerance and to identify or deter the 20% from engaging in criminal activity.
On Saturday, November 9, 2013, from 9:00 am-12:00 pm, the Dallas Police Department’s Office of Community Affairs and Central Patrol Division will assess the needs of 1 residential area. The group will meet for orientation at Junius Heights Baptist Church – 5429 Reiger Avenue at 9:00 am. The group will then survey the residential area bordered between Gaston Avenue, North Beacon Street, North Henderson Avenue, and Reiger Avenue.
The Dallas Police Department’s Office of Community Affairs, the Central Patrol Division and volunteers will complete the door to door survey seeking to assess residents’ relationship with the Dallas Police Department and their crime concerns. A follow-up meeting will take place on November 21, 2013, to discuss the results of the assessment.
