Join us for this unique and free performance to see the renowned San Diego Dance Theater (SDDT) and Lux Boreal Dance Company of Tijuana. The South Chula Vista Branch Library, 389 Orange Avenue, will host a dance concert entitled "Library Dances" on Sunday, November 17. The 45-minute performances will take place at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Jean Isaacs, Artistic Director of the San Diego Dance Theater, is a critically acclaimed, award-winning choreographer whose work has been presented on both coasts of the United States as well as in a variety of other countries. For the upcoming concert, she has partnered with Lux Boreal, the premiere Tijuana dance company, and will feature 16 dancers from the combined troupes.
"You've never seen your library in quite this way," says Isaacs of the dances inspired by the library. "SDDT is thrilled to again work with Lux Boreal. I am always intrigued by their innovation, and can't wait to see what they create for the library. This location celebrates our border culture and each of the dances will be created and performed with this in mind."
The South Chula Vista Library embodies the heart of San Diego's bi-cultural art and life. The library was designed by renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. It received many awards when it opened in 1995, including seven Grand Orchids and the American Institute of Architects/San Diego Chapter Award of Honor for outstanding contribution in design. The Library Dances were created with funding by the City of Chula Vista’s 2013 Performing and Visual Arts Grant.
The San Diego Dance Theater has worked for more than 40 years to enrich the cultural life of the San Diego region through concerts and training. Known for its cross-border projects, Trolley Dances and summer dance workshops, the SDDT is committed to expanding access to the stage for dancers of many nationalities, races, ages and physical abilities.
