No matter how quick of a trip you're going to be away from your vehicle, make sure you lock it at all times. 
The number of entering auto cases are on the rise again and thieves are targeting both locked and unlocked vehicles.
Here are few tips to help you decrease your chances of being an entering auto victim from the Albany Police Department:
1) Lock your car and make sure all windows are up and secure.
2) Don’t leave packages or valuables in plain view. Take valuables with you or place in trunk. This is especially true for GPS units, purses, cd’s, iPods and other electronic devices.
3) Whenever possible park in a well-lighted and busy area.
4) Purchase auto theft system and use it accordingly.
