PERSON RELEASING THIS INFORMATION: Sergeant Jerry Johnson, Alhambra Police Department (626) 570-5117
On October 14, 2013, the Alhambra Police Department received a call of a commercial burglary at the AHMC offices located at 1000 South Fremont in Alhambra. Employees at the business told investigators two lap top computers were stolen during the burglary. These computers contained numerous medical records of patients that had visited several southern California hospitals.
On October 22, 2013, Alhambra Police Department Detectives identified the suspect in the burglary as Christopher Lee Brown. Mr. Brown was arrested on October 24, 2013. However, the stolen computers were not in Mr. Brown’s possession at the time of his arrest.
While Alhambra Police Detectives continue to search for the missing computers, we would like the public to know that the computers are password protected. The passwords were not stolen with the computers and have not been compromised. We have no reports of any of the stolen records being used to commit any form of identity theft.
As a precaution, anyone who believes their personal information has been compromised should closely monitor their credit reports and consult their credit agencies. These companies may be able to provide protection against unauthorized charges, or the opening of unauthorized accounts.
Any person who believes their medical records may have been compromised are asked to call AHMC’s Privacy Department at (855) 977-6678.
