THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW,SLEET, AND FREEZING RAIN IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 5 PM MST FRIDAY. A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS ALSO BEEN ISSUED. THIS WINTER STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT.
* ACCUMULATIONS...A LIGHT GLAZE OF ICE AS WELL AS ONE TO TWO INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY FRIDAY MORNING ACROSS THE SANTA FE AND ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREAS. ANOTHER ROUND OF SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY MONDAY.
* TIMING...A WINTRY MIX WILL DEVELOP LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY FRIDAY MORNING BEFORE TAPERING OFF LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON. SNOW WILL REDEVELOP SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND.
* WINDS...GAP WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS 55 MPH ARE POSSIBLE IN THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY. WINDS WILL LESSEN BUT REMAIN BREEZY FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND BEYOND.
* SNOW LEVELS...GENERALLY AROUND 6000 FEET...THOUGH SNOW, SLEET, AND FREEZING RAIN MAY OCCUR ANYWHERE OVERNIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL BE COLD ENOUGH FOR SNOW AT ALL LEVELS BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON.
* LOCAL IMPACTS...A LIGHT GLAZE OF ICE MAY DEVELOP ON AREA ROADWAYS BY MORNING RUSH HOUR RESULT IN SLICK ROADS. IF SNOW DEVELOPS AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW MAY REDUCE VISIBILITIES.
