City of Maricopa Prepares for Heavy Rain this Weekend

Maricopa, AZ (November 21, 2013) The City of Maricopa is preparing for the upcoming heavy rains expected tonight through this weekend. The National Weather Service has predicted, “ a strong fall storm with moderate to heavy rainfall potential” that will affect the City. In response to the storm, the multiple departments within the City are gearing up to support any emergency needs resulting from the rains.

The City of Maricopa Emergency Operation Center and its personal are on stand-by and monitoring the weather throughout the weekend. The Public Works Department is on stand-by and prepared to close and dangerous roadways and set up detour route through the city. Public Works and the Fire department are also ready to set up a sand bag station for residents at Fire Station 571(20945 N. Porter Rd.) if needed.

The Fire Department’s Community Emergency Response Team’s members has been put on stand-by along with the Police Department’s Volunteers in Policing (VIPS) to support response efforts.

The Fire Department want to emphasize that resident’s stay tuned to the local media outlets as well as our social media channels for any breaking news or emergency advisories pertaining to the storm.
