Burglaries in Surrounding Towns- Take precautions. More info @
This is an advisory from the Saddle River Police Department. The purpose of this message is to notify our residents about recent burglaries in several surrounding towns. These actors have been targeting homes in affluent neighborhoods looking to steal cash, jewelry and other valuables. They have entered homes from first and second story doors and windows. Residents are asked to report anything suspicious as soon as it is observed, and we mean anything. Officers will respond and investigate all calls regarding suspicious activity. We also ask residents to harden themselves as targets. The following tips will reduce your chances of becoming a victim;
If you have an alarm system, update it, and use it.
Leave interior and exterior lights on when you are not home, to make your home appear occupied.
Leave a television or radio on inside your home.
Please remove jewelry and valuables from the bedrooms.
Remove safes from the master bedroom and their closets.
Second story windows should be alarmed.
Lock all doors and windows. We find many unlocked doors.
Remove mail and newspapers from your driveway the day they are delivered.
Secure any ladders on your property.
This is only a small list of ideas to help deter an intruder from your home. For additional information or assistance please call Saddle River Police headquarters at anytime at 201-327-5300.
