This is an update to a recent alert regarding counterfeit money being passed in the Brighton area:

Several businesses in Brighton recently received counterfeit $20 bills that were passed in exchange for food or merchandise. Investigators from the Brighton PD, LAWNET, and Howell PD apprehended the two subjects involved who were printing the fake bills in their apartment in Howell. Both subjects have admitted to participating in the manufacture and distribution of the counterfeit money.

The case, including seized printing materials and counterfeit bills, was turned over to the U. S. Secret Service who will be pursuing federal charges against the couple.
