Franklin Police bid farewell to K9 Sting, whose service will always be remembered
Franklin, TN – Born on November 15, 2001, Sting completed his police training in 2004. He served the Franklin Police Department until his January, 2012 retirement. After eight years of faithful service, Sting’s retirement consisted of continued life with Sgt. Aaron Compton, and his family, who cared for Sting as their family pet until his death on November 29, 2013.
In addition to taking a wide variety of drugs off of Franklin streets, daily, Sting’s noteworthy accomplishments include the seizure of an 18-kilo shipment of cocaine, the seizure of a semi-truck and trailer, and the seizure of more than 300 vials of steroids and 10,000 steroid pills.
Sting was the United States Police Canine Association Regional Champion in 2006 and 2009. He placed 17, nationally, in 2006 and #10 in 2009. Sting was the National Champion in Agility in 2006.
“He was a great partner, friend, and member of my family,” said Sgt. Aaron Compton. “He loved serving this community, and he is dearly missed.”
