Stephen Brett Williams, 48, of 190 Villawood Trail, was taken into custody shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday and charged with third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail, and was still being held without bond Monday with a hearing set for Dec. 17 in Garland County District Court.
According to reports, the victim, 50, states her husband, identified as Williams, swung a mop at her while screaming and cursing at her and at one point grabbed her by the throat and choked her down to the ground.
The victim’s daughter, 25, of Branson, Mo., reportedly told deputies she saw the suspect, her stepfather, swinging the mop at her mother and then grab her by the throat and force her to the ground.
The suspect left the scene, but the stepdaughter followed him in her vehicle to Wal-Mart, 3604 Highway 7 north, where he got into the passenger side of a maroon Ford pickup. She continued following the pickup while informing dispatchers of its direction of travel and deputies pulled the pickup over at the intersection of Highway 7 and Turtle Creek Road.
Williams was taken into custody without incident while other deputies were interviewing the victim at her residence
