SCAM ALERT! The Whitehall Police Department has received a report of a new SCAM in the area!

The Whitehall Police Department has received reports of a male subject operating in the area advising he is a "Chimney Inspector" and can additionally perform repairs to any issues he finds during his inspection(s).

He is charging area residents approximately $250.00 for his basic service, and receives payment immediately. He is not providing appropriate contact information to residents, and is not providing any appropriate documentation of the work / services completed.

Be cautious and informed about any services offered to you. From the FTC, "Crooks use clever schemes to defraud millions of people every year. They often combine sophisticated technology with age-old tricks to get people to send money or give out personal information. They add new twists to old schemes and pressure people to make important decisions on the spot. One thing that never changes: they follow the headlines — and the money."

Residents / Business owners experiencing any similar type activities are asked to contact the Whitehall Police Department at (518)499-1316 and file a report.
