Felony Graffiti Vandalism Against Metro Property - Search Warrant Results in 9 Felony charges, Including Child Endangerment

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Transit Services Bureau (TSB), Criminal Impact Team (CIT), served a search warrant on a home in 2200 block of Las Vegas Avenue, in the City of Pomona, California, on Thursday, November 6th, 2013, at approx. 5:00 AM. The warrant was for the suspect, Eric Ramon Navarro, who was wanted for Felony Vandalism, 594(b)(1) PC, and being an Ex-Felon in Possession of a Firearm, 29800(a)(1) PC. Members of the TSB CIT Team had been investigating Navarro since his tagger moniker “KAPOW,” was discovered on the Metro Gold Line earlier this year. The CIT Team discovered that Navarro had been responsible for causing damage to Metro properties. The CIT Team is part of the Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. This Bureau of the Sheriff’s Department has policing responsibility for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro).

TSB CIT Team Deputy Mark Marriott-Lodge was the investigative lead on this case. “We were sure that he had been tagging Metro property, selling drugs, and probably had weapons in his home. This is why we used an abundance of caution when serving the search warrant” The Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau (Special Weapons Team) made entry into the location as it was believed that Navarro may be in possession of assault style weapons. Recovered at the home were an Uzi Sub-machine gun, a sawed off 12 gauge shotgun, a .45 cal. pistol, numerous high capacity magazines, and many rounds of ammunition. Also confiscated at the location were large quantities of Marijuana packaged for sales, prescription medications not belonging to any of the occupants of the home, digital scales and other paraphernalia used to modify, manufacture, and sell illicit drugs. Navarro was arrested without incident for numerous Felony charges, including Child Endangerment, 273(a) PC.

Navarro is known to be a member of the “Aerosol Gangsters” or “AG.” A tagging crew known to have committed several acts of graffiti vandalism on the Metro Gold Line. Navarro also admitted to being a member of another tagging crew that goes by “TSTW.” A women was detained, but not arrested at the scene as part of the child endangerment investigation due to the weapons and drugs left in close proximity to the couples four children also living in the home. LA County Child Protective Services were called and rescued the children as the home was deemed unfit at the time.
