Speed and Slick Roads Factor into Crash
Elkhart County – The Indiana State Police and local authorities responded to a single vehicle crash today on the US 20 Bypass between US 33 and CR 17. The crash which happened around 11:30 a.m. closed the road for one hour as crews removed the vehicle from the west bound lanes.
According to reports, Mackayla D. Que-Lazaro, Elkhart, was driving too fast for the slick road conditions. She lost control of her 2000 Jeep Cherokee hitting the center concrete barrier before rolling the Jeep onto its roof. Que-Lazaro was taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital where she was treated for head and neck injuries and a broken arm.
Que-Lazaro was cited by police for not having insurance.
The state police were assisted at the scene by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department and the Concord Township Fire Department.
