Marshall County Crash Closes Stretch of US 30
Marshall County - Shortly after 2:00 p.m. today state police and emergency personnel responded to a four vehicle crash on US 30 and King Road. Officers arrived on scene to find four semi tractor trailers scattered across the west bound lanes of US 30 and into the intersection.
Purportedly the driver of a west bound semi tractor trailer, Skender Emini, 36, of Ellyn, Illinois, fell asleep and awoke just moments before colliding with the rear of stopped semi tractor trailer at the intersection. The force of the collision between the two trucks continued as they struck two more semi tractor trailers that were stopped. The collision caused a tank full of argon gas to spill from one of the trucks as they came to a rest. The argon gas is inert and was not a hazard to the public.
Injured in the crash was Jeffrey Wildermuth , 55, of Westville, Indiana. He was taken to Saint Joseph hospital in Plymouth and treated for injuries to his back and neck.
The crash closed the west bound lanes of US 30 for nearly two hours as crews worked to reopen the intersection.
