4-Year-Old Gunshot Victim Stable; Child shot self with gun he found in vehicle
Franklin, TN – Detectives have determined that this morning’s 4-year-old gunshot victim was in the front seat of a vehicle, parked in the 600 block of Cherokee Place. A family friend was seated in the driver’s seat of the same vehicle, with his legs hanging outside and his back to the child. The child found a handgun that was in the car and discharged it, shooting himself in the hand. The child, initially rushed to Williamson Medical Center by his mother and the man whose car he was in, has been transferred to Vanderbilt. We are happy to report that he is in stable condition, and reportedly good spirits.
Detectives continue to investigate this incident; no charges, however, have been filed in this case.
