Search underway for missing work release inmate in Sioux Falls. Courtney Mitchell, white female, age 25, 5'11" 245 lbs.
Department of Corrections staff and law enforcement are searching for a state prison inmate who failed to return to a work release center in Sioux Falls earlier today.
Courtney Mitchell, age 25, failed to return to the Minnehaha County Correction Center (MCC) in Sioux Falls this afternoon following a shift at her work release job. The state contracts with MCC to house female inmates on work release status in Sioux Falls.
Mitchell is a white female, 5-feet-11 inches tall and weighs approximately 245 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.
Inmate Mitchell is currently serving a 4-year sentence for Grand Theft out of Lincoln County and a 1-year sentence for Possession of a Controlled Substance out of Minnehaha County.
There are more than 200 state prison inmates currently on work release status, including 15 females housed at MCC.
