Police in two Cities Working Together, to Keep Alcohol Out of Underage Hands

Franklin, TN – In a series of alcohol integrity checks by police, all nine Franklin businesses that were checked passed with flying colors. Jewel’s Market, 1421 W. Main St.; Daily’s, 222 Highway 96 W; Mapco, 1100 Hillsboro Rd; Exxon, 449 Cool Springs Blvd.; Mapco, 1301 Murfreesboro Rd.; Shell, Murfreesboro Rd. at Center Point Pl.; Daily’s, 1316 Murfreesboro Rd.; Daily’s 1412 Murfreesboro Rd.; and Mapco, 1501 Murfreesboro Rd. are all to be commended. Clerks at each of these establishments checked ID and refused to sell alcohol to under-21 informants working with police.

“Sometimes success is measured by what doesn’t happen,” said Franklin Police Chief David Rahinsky. “The Franklin Police Department will continue working with other agencies to ensure that those who sell or serve alcohol do so in compliance with the law.” Jeff Hughes, Brentwood’s Chief of Police said, “Our mutual approach remains zero-tolerance, and with good reason: In 2012, 306 people died on Tennessee roadways due to impaired driving; 18 of them were under 21.”

Nine Brentwood establishments were checked: Employees at Cross Corner, Franklin Rd.; The Hilton Hotel, Church St.; Outback Steakhouse, Moores Ln.; Mapco, Moore’s Lane; Twin Peaks, Galleria Blvd.; and Sportsman’s Grill, Westgate Cr. all checked ID and refused service to under-21 informants. Workers at Judge Bean’s, 7022 Church St. E; Chili’s, 107 Creekside Crossing, and Cozymel’s, 1654 Westgate Cr. were all cited by Brentwood Police for underage sale, punishable by a fine and jail time.
