The Los Banos Police Department is searching for two suspects believed to be involved in two separate crimes on December 31, 2013.
The first incident occurred at approximately 12:35 a.m., when Officers responded to a convenience store parking lot in the 400 Block on North Mercy Springs Road regarding an attempted robbery. Officers contacted a 22-year-old male who reported he was approached by two black males, believed to be between the ages of 17 and 19 years old wearing hooded sweatshirts and jeans, while he was pumping gasoline in his vehicle.
One of the suspects claimed he had a firearm and ordered the victim to turn over money. The victim attempted to walk into the convenience store for help; however one of the suspects assaulted him. The victim only suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention. The suspects were last seen running east across Mercy Springs Road.
At approximately 2:37 a.m., the Los Banos Police Department responded to the same convenience store after the clerk called 9-1-1 to report an attempt robbery of the business. When Officers arrived they learned a black male juvenile wearing a hooded sweatshirt, which was zipped up covering his head, entered the business claiming he had a firearm. The suspect demanded money and threatened to shoot the clerk if he did not comply. The clerk refused to give the suspect any money despite being threatened by the suspect several times. The suspect eventually left the store running north east across Mercy Springs Road. The clerk was not injured during the attempted robbery and the suspects in both cases have not been located.
