Fatal Traffic Collision - La Verne resident crashed into a moving car and a tree on Foothill Boulevard in San Dimas
On Tuesday night, January 7, 2014, at about 10:02 p.m. a fatal traffic collision occurred along the 200 block of West Foothill Boulevard, San Dimas. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 61 year old male was driving a 2005 GMC Z71 pickup eastbound on Foothill Boulevard at a high rate of speed. A 2004 Ford F150 pickup, also traveling eastbound, was in the number two lane at 30 to 40 miles per hour. The GMC struck struck the rear end of the Ford, causing the GMC to leave the roadway, striking a tree in the center median.
The driver of the GMC, a 61 year old male resident of La Verne, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 10:15 p.m. The driver of the F150, a 46 year old female, also a La Verne resident, was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured. She was not cited, nor was she suspected of DUI or other violations. It was unknown at the time of the preliminary investigation if the GMC driver was wearing a seatbelt, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
