Malicious Destruction of Property suspect sentenced.

A recent Malicious Destruction investigation has been concluded with the suspect in the case having been sentenced in Jackson County District Court.

On approximately October 15, 2013, the Columbia Township Park on Hyde Road was damaged by unknown persons. The suspect or suspects had spray painted obscenities on the fire station, picnic tables, new pavilion, garbage cans, etc.

Sgt. Niles took the original case, and eventually developed a suspect. He located Bradley Derek Guild, 17 years (at the time of the crime), and interviewed him. Guild confessed to the crime, and the report was forwarded to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office. A warrant was authorized and signed charging Guild with Malicious Destruction of Property, over $200.00, and he was jailed and eventually pled guilty Malicious Destruction of Property under $200.00.

On Monday, January 13, 2014, Guild was sentenced by Judge Mazur, in 12th District Court. Guild was ordered to pay full fines and costs, plus restitution of $960.00; he was ordered to jail immediately for 30 days; 24 months probation, no drugs or alcohol, must get a job, and he was banned from Columbia Township property. He must also make monthly payments by the 1st of the month starting March 1st. If he fails to make his payments as scheduled, he must serve an additional 5 days in jail.
