The Giles County Sheriff's Department has received at least two reports of a man going into two different markets in Giles County and trying to defraud them out of money. The man enters the store and places a note on some item in the store when the clerk is not looking. He then walks around for a bit and tells the clerk that he was in the store earlier and the previous shift told him to come back when the next shift is on duty. He continues to tell the clerk that his boss had ordered a large quantity of some item and it had not came in but the items were already paid for and he was to pick up a refund and cancel the order. He tells the clerk the previous shift told him they would put a note on the item (the one he just put there) so the next shift would know it was OK to give the refund. The clerks checks and there is a note and gives the refund. He has been successful in at least one store and may try the scam in other stores in the area. The person was believed to be driving a silver or dark colored older body style Camaro. If anyone has information on this person or scam please call the Giles County Sheriff's Department at 931-363-3505 and ask to speak with an investigator.
