Full Notification

(Windsor Heights, IA) At approximately 10:08pm on Thursday, January 16th, Windsor Heights Police and Fire/Rescue responded to a single vehicle, personal injury crash at the intersection of 66th Street and Mott Avenue. Upon initial investigation, officers arrived to find a mid-sized car with significant damage resting against a utility pole. The sole occupant had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no witnesses to the accident. A passing motorist made the initial report of the incident. The circumstances remain under investigation; however, the poor weather conditions are believed to be a primary contributing circumstance to this crash.
At this point the identity of the driver is not being released until all appropriate family notifications are confirmed.

UPDATE: The individual killed in this motor vehicle crash was Nicholas Smith, 33 years old, of Windsor Heights.
