The Kensington Police needs help updating site and property information
The Kensington Police needs help updating site and property information.
We are in the process of updating site and property listing for locations around town. This information is stored within our computerized dispatch system and allows us to know who owns the property we are responding to for an alarm or other emergency. We had a 44.5% increase in residential burglar alarm calls last year and often we quickly respond and find that it was a false alarm. At times we find things like unintentionally unsecured doors and would like to fill you in directly on what we found. Most of the current site information only lists home phone numbers which doesn’t help us if you’re not home. We have also found that many properties have changed hands for various reasons and the information on our end doesn’t get updated.
This year we had responded several times to a residence where an elderly subject lived alone and was having medical problems. We updated the resident’s site information to include a local relative’s address and contact information so we could notify them of future emergencies. Also if there is something unique about your residence like a large dog that may look intimidating; but is friendly, or have a family member that lives with you that has medical or mobility problems we can add that information as well. This helps both the police and fire department know what to expect when arriving at your residence and what other special measures or equipment may be needed. If you have a security alarm it would also be helpful to us if you could provide a key holder and there contact info in the event we can’t reach you.
We are asking that information be emailed in the following format:
John and Mary Smith
123 Example St
Kensington, NH
Home- XXX-XXXX
John Cell- (XXX)XXX-XXXX
Mary Cell- (XXX)XXX-XXX
(Any additional information)
The submission of information is completely voluntary and will help us better serve and communicate with you when you’re counting on it the most. We greatly appreciate your time.
The Chief would also like to remind residents of the public town meeting on January 20th at 7:00pm to address the 2014 town budget and bond. The meeting will be held at KES.
If you have any questions feel free to call or send me an email.
Thank you!
