Officers locate methamphetamine conversion lab in an apartment on Sobrato Lane
On 10/19/14, at approximately 8:40pm, the Campbell Police Department responded to the 800 block of Sobrato Lane on a report of an attempted burglary. The reporting party advised that a subject was trying to open a window to the apartment and fled when he was seen.
Upon arrival, officers determined that one of the residents of the apartment was on probation for drug related charges. Due to the suspicious nature of the call, officers conducted a search of the apartment based on the provisions of the probation status. After entering the room, officers found what appeared to be a small-scale methamphetamine conversion lab along with controlled substances, and other drug paraphernalia.
The apartment was evacuated and the Santa Clara County Specialized Enforcement Team (SCCSET) clandestine laboratory response team began assisting in the investigation and collection of evidence. SCCSET agents were able to safely remove the chemicals and controlled substances from the apartment. Over one pound of crystal methamphetamine was found inside the apartment.
There have been no arrests made at this time, however the Campbell Police Department, in conjunction with SCCSET, is actively investigating the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Campbell Police Department Investigations Unit at 408-871-5190. Those wishing to remain anonymous can also contact the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at 408-947-STOP (7867).
