PRESS RELEASE: Warsaw Stabbing Suspect arrested in Nappanee

On Monday, January 20, 2014, at approximately 1:25 p.m., Warsaw Police were called to Kosciusko Community Hospital for a stabbing that had occurred on E. Winona Avenue in Warsaw. The investigation found that an ex-boyfriend had observed his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend parked at 715 E. Winona Avenue, and he stopped to confront them. As the female was between the ex-boyfriend and the new boyfriend, the suspect reached in the pick-up truck and cut the victim with a razor blade on the right side of his face and head. The suspect immediately fled while the girlfriend drove the victim to Kosciusko Community Hospital. An attempt to locate was placed on the suspect, 24 year old, Donaldo Velasquez, of Warsaw. Nappanee Police located the vehicle and the suspect and he was taken into custody.
The suspect was transported back to Warsaw and admitted his involvement in an interview with police. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a class B felony charge of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and is being held on a Prosecutor’s hold with no bond.
The victim, a 29 year old male, from Warsaw was treated at KCH with non-life threatening injuries.
