Alert

Attempted Diversionary Theft

Dear Lyndhurst Resident:

Recently, an elderly resident of our community answered the front door after an unknown man rang the doorbell. The man claimed to be from the township's water department and needed to check the water pressure in the home. The resident requested identification from the subject and, although he provide some type of ID, the resident still felt it was suspicious because they were not having water pressure issues. The unidentified suspect left the area after being denied entry to the home. This type of crime is all to common against the elderly.

Instructions:

Remember, please verify before letting anyone you don’t know inside your home, even if they present identification, or contact LPD (201-939-2900 then select prompt #1).
