On 01/13/14 the NC Highway Patrol and Polk County Sheriff Deputies responded to a vehicle accident on Mountain Range Road. Upon arrival officers located Daryl Faulkner suffering from head injuries, as a result of been thrown from the back of a 1998 Dodge truck. The driver during the incident Travis Faulkner fled the scene on foot. Mr. Faulkner was evaluated and transported by EMS to the St. Luke’s Hospital officers on scene conducted a search for Travis Faulkner. During the search Sheriff Donald Hill, who was on scene, contacted Travis Faulkner by phone and negotiated his surrender. The search lasted around an hour, before Travis exited the woods near the residence and was taken into custody by Sheriff Hill. The NC Highway Patrol charged Travis Faulkner with Leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury and Driving while License Revoked. On Wednesday Jan. 17th Daryl Faulkner died as a result of his injuries at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. The NC Highway Patrol, as a result of the death, has also charged Travis Faulkner with misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle.
